Target truck stuck in icy pond

Check out this Target cargo truck stuck in an icy Minnesota pond! The driver narrowly avoided death when his vehicle veered off the highway and plunged into the frozen pond. The accident occurred near Monticello, Minnesota on Interstate 94 around 6:30 a.m. Friday, the Associated Press reported.

Thankfully, the driver managed to get out of the truck, crawl to safety, and was taken to the hospital, treated, and released the same day. The State Patrol tweeted out updates about the crash, including this photo of the truck half-submerged in water. The pond is about 7 to 8 feet deep and was covered with 6 inches of ice, according to authorities.

I am so glad to hear that the driver is OK!!! Do you know anything about the condition of the woman hit with the shopping cart?

The vehicle veered off the road? Or did the driver veer the vehicle off the road? I am glad he is okay.

Hi Tina; no, I have not heard anything about the cart victim since my last update on Nov. 22. At that time, the victim was in stable condition, but still unconscious. I just tried to do a web search on her name, but found no new information - sorry.

Critifur: the news articles I've read online are vague, but I think the news report I saw on TV stated something to the effect that the driver was trying to make a "shortcut" or something....oops! Very ill advised on his part, especially in such wintery conditions.

Thanks for checking--I had done a search as well and did not find anything. I wondered if I was missing something!

Does anyone else secretly wonder what wonderful goodies were ruined in the back of that truck (since we can breathe easy the driver was ok...)?
