Mossimo's nod to Louboutin?

The New York Times recently published an interesting article about Christian Louboutin's vivid red soles, and whether they can enforce its federally registered Red Sole Mark. It seems that another high-end designer - namely Yves Saint Laurent - has produced some new styles with red soles that Louboutin claims infringes on its trademark.

So when I saw the "Papina" pump by Mossimo at Target the other day, I couldn't help wonder if the styling - with a peep-toe platform in scarlet red - was a subtle nod to Louboutin's iconic sole? While it certainly doesn't cross any trademarks, it does seem to silently suggest the designer's mark.

Have you noticed all the porn star shoes at Target recently? Sky high platforms and heels. The one you posted is more tasteful, but it looks like the Kardashians invaded the shoe section at Target!

Amy: yes, I've noticed this as well - very odd! There's one pair of colorblock maryjane platform pumps (in taupe, black and coral) that I wanted to do a "double-take" on (as they're identical to a pair by Dollhouse) but I've only seen them in stores; Target.com doesn't have them on their website yet.

I think this is such a cute shoe.

Great eye Target-Addict! Of course it alludes to the Loubatain & YsL red!

I actually have a pair of Nine West pumps that look just like that but they actually have a red sole! I got them about 3 years ago. They're terribly uncomfortable but for $90 they are a cute nod to Loubs!! I have never been able to find another brand that has tried out the red sole but I don't think you can copyright a color Mr. Louboutin. Or sell a Louboutin for Target line that everyone can afford. You shouldn't have to pay $500+ for one pair of shoes to get that look.
