Good news, Smith & Hawken fans! Although the forecast looked gloomy for S&H when they went out of business last summer, Target has just announced that they've acquired the Smith & Hawken brand.
Target did not disclose the purchase price for the assets it acquired of the upscale garden chain. But they did state that "We're thrilled to own such an admired and iconic brand," said Kathee Tesija, executive vice president of merchandising, Target. "We believe the Smith & Hawken brand complements our existing portfolio of owned brands and provides our guests with another compelling reason to shop Target."
Target currently offers outdoor furniture, gardening and décor solutions through Smith & Hawken for Target, which has been available exclusively at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com since 2006. Target also said it will expand their Smith & Hawken offerings in the future.
