Wednesday's Rave: Mossimo's "Larissa" Top

It's been a long time since I've purchased something from the Converse One Star line (at Target) because IMO, they've gone downhill this  past year or so.  So I was pleasantly surprised when I found this "Larissa" top in store the other day.  The asymmetrical zipper and ruching keep it edgy, and the soft cotton/poly blend makes it easy to care for.  Plus, my husband said this top made me look "skinny"... bonus!

Hi, I like your blog and just wanted to let you know - Target has been my favorite store for quite awhile now. But I do want to know if you or anyone else has noticed that the clothes department seems to be stocked kind of schizophrenic lately. I saw some really great new items, but also a LOT of truly horrible items as well. All the 'rejects' from the '80's seem to be there. Horrible mustard yellow and a truly jaw dropping array of horrid shades of orange (burnt orange, neon orange and shades I can't begin to describe) as well as lots of what I can only term as 'baby poop' colors. Horrid/cheap looking plaids and prints that look like they come from failed home ec projects. Actually, the main thought that crosses my mind is that the bulk of the new clothes look like stuff I'd find on the forgotten racks of Goodwill. If they had a clearance aisle from the '80's that they couldn't GIVE AWAY.

Ugh! It hurts my eyes to look at their clothing department right now. It makes all the good clothes seem to vanish and I find myself leaving before my eyes hurt anymore than they already do. Is it just me? I don't think so since my mother agrees and even my father, who hardly notices fashion like most hetero men, had to agree it was rather ugly.

Just wondering if anyone else has been cringing at the sight lately.

I love it! I love the gray too! Hopefully I will find it in-store. Thanks for all of your great posts :-)

Hi Nicki!
Yes, I have noticed this as well: really awful baggy/shapeless tops, and wild print leggings (or printed pants). But I don't think it's just Target; unfortunately this "80's trend" is pretty widespread. And even some of the more ladylike/conservative dresses from Merona are in some really awful colors (as you described). But, there are still a few hidden gems, like this Converse top and the Mossimo peplum dress I blogged about earlier in the week.

Nope, I've noticed too and it's not 80s, it's 90s. 80s was all neons and brights bold colors, and ver structured garments (shoulder pads anyone?). This is all return of 90s grunge. Hence the shapeless tops, cropped tops, plaid, flannel, drab (baby poop) colors, and combat boots. It's not target's fault. This trend is ubiquitous.
