Target's Shops, part deux: are you buying it?

Today marks the introduction of Target's second installment of  "The Shops" concept, with offerings from Patch NYC, Odin, The Curiosity Shoppe, and Kirna Zabete.  I just perused the collections online, and honestly, there's no "must haves" I could find, so I'll be waiting until later today to check out the goods in person at my local Target. The only item I noticed already sold out online was the set of 4 question-mark plates from The Curiosity Shoppe... which I find funny, because they're cute and all, but not THAT cute.

What about you, dear readers?  Have you checked out the new collections from The Shops yet, and if so, what are you buying?

I saw those plates in the store, they looked cute ... until I picked them up.

Ran by Target late morning (a Super Target). They get a fair amount of items in these sales. There seemed to be quite a lot left. Looked at the clothes (brocade dress to heavy of a fabric and too short for me), am so over cheap polyester blouses, thought the home items were just sort of blah. Left without buying a thing.

Just like you, I checked it out online when I woke up this morning (always browse online with my coffee, lol). I went to Target this afternoon (4:30 ish) Our store didn't have the leather jacket, or the faux-leather skirt I wanted to see. I did pick up a set of the kiss/leopard print zippered pouches - I love things like these for packing in my suitcase. Some of the owl items are cute - candles, lamp, etc. No must have's for me either. I might like the sequin bottom totes, but not enough to spend 49.99. If they make it to sale - maybe. Interested to see how the items do. Don't see any ebay frenzy's anytime soon.

I didn't find anything to be more interesting than the regular rollouts at Target. Heck, the "back to school" stuff in the kitchen are was a blast. For this launch, I think the Patch NYC items are the best of the bunch. The Curiosity Shop things are cute if you're looking for "Route 66" retro style, but I tend to roll more Mid-Century Scandinavian or Think Geek in my decorating. Anyhoo, I picked up some of the plates and glasses by Patch. Nice quality. Good for dessert service/fall table setting. Pretty sure I'll keep it. I only found one floral pattern tolerable in the clothing, and the maxi dress was the one item that came close to an appropriate fit. But I just couldn't imagine wearing it and doing the Angelina Jolie leg pose thing. Pretty chintzy quality on the clothes overall.

I agree....nothing grabbed me, at all! What did is the Threshold line in home decor!

I couldn't wait to get the USA shaped cutting board. I hurried to Target at 8:20am, thinking there wouldn't be any left but the store still a huge stack. It is cute but not sure I should have spent $25 on it.

I ended up just getting a candelabra in the Patch section. The clothes were a miss for me.

There is a lot left in our store.

Thanks for weighing in, readers! I'll offer my own opinion in tomorrow's post. Overall, this collection was a "miss" for me :-(

Ran in this morning to check it out. The curiosity shop stuff was cute but since I lived through the 60s and 70s already I passed. I see this line hitting deep markdown. The Patch line was nice but there was very little to see. Loved the owl and gold zebra stripe pillows. The Kirna Zabete line was cute. I picked up both the b/w and gray/pink chunky sweaters in size xs. These run big and the extra petites out there will be sized out. I also got the gray trench in s and the tweed jumper in s. (I usually wear a 4-6 for reference). The fabric on the trench is thin but the fit is perfect so I brought of home to think over. The jumper is short but I want to try with tights or boots before I decide. Lots of selection and no Missoni drama.

one excellent thing i noticed -- the website is working almost like a normal web site. Only one flaw, i put 3 things in my basket, then signed in. Unfortunately it emptyed my basked. not the Missoni disaster though! I bought Patch owl candlestick and deer cookie jar for christmas decor, curiosity dish towels for $10.
