Target fully stocked with Back-to-School supplies...

Just like last year, Target has stocked their Back-to-School section earlier than usual. In fact, if you're looking for bargains on patio furniture or lawn & garden supplies, you're probably better off looking on Target.com, as most Target stores have already cleared those sections out to make room for BTS stuff.

While I do appreciate them putting out the College supplies early, I have mixed feelings on the basic Elementary school stuff. We're barely past the 4th of July, and there's a good 6 weeks of Summer left on the calendar. I say we should enjoy this season before rushing to the next one.

Many year round schools in the area start school at the end of July and since so many more schools are moving in that direction. that is probably why they start early

I think it is the same as last year. The new thing seems to be, right after the fourth, the BTS stuff comes out, and hangs around until the first part of Sept. Then there is another dollar stock up or sorts, then Halloween starts coming out and a tiny bit of Thanksgiving....Christmas... Valentines, Easter/spring with patio stuff. I think I have the time line down pat, and it has been the same. I'm not so sure it is out any earlier.

Shannon: good point about year round school.

And Elizabeth: I think it gets a bit earlier every year. This time it seems to be a couple of weeks earlier than last year, because in 2011 I lamented about this around the third week in July.

I like it out early, as long as schools have their supply list out. I waited until 3 weeks before school last year and had a hard time finding certain things that picky teachers want. I'd rather get it all bought, and not worry about saving 5-10 bucks later with coupons/sales...and avoid the crowds and craziness!
At any rate, we start school here in 4 1/2 weeks......

I used to teach at a year round school. We would start July 1st or right after 4th of July and we would not be able to take advantage of the BTS sales. We would buy supplies before July 1st and pay full price. So I'm glad they are starting the sales earlier.

Dollar General is perfect place for classroom items. It is my fav. I get coupons from them all the time and they always have great deals when I come in. Deals like “50 off” And “ dollar general 50 off sale ” are what make me save a lot of money everytime I shop there.
