I had an intense week, so I haven't blogged as much as I would have liked to lately. And when a friend texted me the other day asking whether some of the Marimekko for Target collab had already gone on clearance, I shrugged it off as misinformation. Guess I was the one who was misinformed, as a check of Target.com shows that some items are already on clearance for 30% off!
The sale stuff seems to be confined to home and outdoor goods for now, like this colorful pouf now on sale for $34.98 (formerly $49.99). Keep in mind that some of the items marked "on sale" online aren't available in stores anymore, so unless you find them in store, you're out of luck. I'm actually amazed the clothing isn't on sale yet, as there have been tons of returns to my local store - especially of the kaftans, wide pants and swimsuits - so I'm surprised the stores have discounted them to try to clear them out.

When I looked online early this morning, I saw the home wares, plates, napkins, etc. were on clearance. Most of them said they were not available for shipping. After searching to find a few items that I wanted at the store nearest me, I went there, only to find that even though they showed online, they were not in fact on clearance in store. Just the items you mentioned were marked down. I spoke to a manager who said they were waiting till mid-June to clearance the kitchen things, hoping more of it would sell. Seemed odd to me, since it showed them online, but you couldn't have them shipped. They still have a very large amount of it left at this store. I wonder how many people will see it online and go to the store only to be disappointed like I was.
Thanks for the insight, Barbara! My local store has TONS of clothing left, and only a smattering of housewares. But like you said, the housewares in stores are NOT marked down. Very confusing for the consumer...
as a retail worker this is how I see it.
You are supporting your local friends and neighbors when you shop in store opposed to online. This is a reason why online offers can be different from in store in the same merchandise. They are hoping their community will still be able to profit off their new, hyped up merchandise. The online markdowns could be back stock and returns. In store promotions are often used to move product you have too much of or is old
