Target's desperate display move...

In what seems like a desperate move to increase foot traffic around it's Chrismas collab with Neiman Marcus, my local Target store (shown here) has moved the display to the very FRONT of the store so you can't miss it once you walk in.  Previously this display was tucked in a corner further back, between the maternity section and the dressing rooms.  My store also has an employee acting as a "greeter" to stop shoppers as they pass by to try to get them to check out the goods.  Despite this effort, the section still looks fully stocked.

The section at our store was very well stocked when I was there Monday, and they also had some endcaps of merchandise throughout the store. If I had a child who needed a fancy party dress (which I don't), I'd be after that ivory one with the beading and "wavy" hem. Otherwise, it's overpriced and not really things I would gift anyone really-- and I'm not spending that much money on myself with Christmas and a wedding coming up in the next month and a half.

Every Target I've been to has been fully stocked!! I think they're too expensive for Target items. $70 for a sleeveless top from Target is too much, but maybe $70 for the same top at Neiman Marcus is a deal, if that makes sense. I think it's the wrong market...

last weekend, I ran into NM items squished between maternity and mens... they were in a really weird place and because they were women's clothing/children's clothing/housewares of sorts, if I had been looking for any one of those things, I would not have looked where they were. Nothing really called out to me- they all seemed a little odd, but sometimes you need something unusual as a gift, I guess.

I shop at both Neiman Marcus and Target and love both stores but this collection totally missed the mark. I looked through the whole look book and there is nothing I wanted to buy. I do like the Rodarte wrapping paper and tree ornament. But $8 for wrapping paper? And I don’t have a tree so I don’t need the ornament either. I think the big hinderance to the collection is there is no rhyme or reason to what is being offered. A lunch box, a bike, a few dresses, a yoga mat, etc.

Same with our store. The moved everything up to the front, and it is fully stocked. I think some of the prices are making the average Target shopper gulp a bit. I think the prices are fair.

Our store in the Bronx is fully stocked-and right as you come in. I don't know where it was at first, as I did not go to that store until Monday. But the store in CT that I went to last weekend had it all in the maternity section. Overall I am pretty underwhelmed, although I think the Lela Rose dress is beautiful, and I am thinking about getting it. I love the Mark Jacob clutch, but it is a little spendy for me...

Bev hit it on the nose.....this collaboration should have been NM designer items at TARGET pries. I don't think the typical Target shopper has any use for most of those items, especially at those prices. More practical items at lower prices would have been better sellers. And more Holiday themed things since it is a holiday collaboration. There was no rhyme or reason to most of the things. Nine West has nicer and less expensive sparkly holiday purses, ipad covers, wallets shoes, etc. I've been very disappointed in the Target holiday displays the past few years. It seems like they are trying to scale it down, make it more..neutral so as not to offend?

Fully stocked at my store. The biggest problem is that the items are overpriced, nothing is particularly outstanding and the types of items aren't emblematic of the designer. Tory Burch and a crummy lunchbox? Is that what she is known for? Diane von Furstenberg and an ugly yoga mat? Is that what made her famous? How about some "Reva" shoes and a wrap dress. Everyone can get cuter and more functional lunchboxes and yoga mats on a different aisle at Target. Somehow, it just feels insulting.

The other day when I walked into my local Target, I thought they completely rearranged the setup because the NM collection was right in front like you stated. When I had visited another location close to me earlier in the week, the merchandise was in the back near maternity. This is why I was so confused when I walked in. I honestly think it's way to overpriced, and look forward to it all going on sale. I really like the sequin top with blue accents, but $80 is way to expensive, even if it is designer. I would never pay that much for a top, especially if it's at Target.
