Altuzarra for Target: what did you buy?

Hello readers! Did you shop the Altuzarra for Target collection today? And if so, did you shop from the comfort of your own home (purchasing online) or brave the lines (if there were any at your particular store)?

My cats work me up at 5:30 this morning (insert frowny-face here) so I decided to fire up my iPad and take a look at Target.com, and I ended up taking a chance on the sweater and the ruby peasant dress. I know, I know... I said I was going to pass on this collab, but I caved ;-) Then I went back to bed for a couple of hours, and later on that morning (around 10am) ventured to my local store. There I was pleasantly surprised by this tuxedo jacket (shown) with the cute peplum detail. I had to size up, but this will be a piece I'll wear again and again. I was in a hurry and I also grabbed the tuxedo pants (without trying them on first) but unfortunately they run small so I'll have to hope that I can find them in store (as they already seem sold out online).

As for the aforementioned items I bought online: I was not as impressed with them in person. But once I have them in hand I will take The Recessionista's advice and try them on, as she notes that "some of the things we thought we would love were not the most stunning on when we actually tried everything on." Like her, I found the satin jersey items to be cheap-looking, and therefore did not bother to try them on.

I didn't bother with the shoes or the boots, as the heels were way too high for my fussy feet. And all the belts were sold out at my store (as they were online). When I arrived at mid-morning, the Altuzarra section seemed oddly quiet and the racks seemed filled with a range of sizes. However, in the 15 or so minutes I took pouring over the goods, at least 3 women flitted in and out picking up a ton of stuff to try on. The salespeople seemed well prepared to answer questions (two women asked whether there were more belts in the back inventory, and the answer was "no") and they were also doing a great job getting the merchandise back on the floor after it was tried on in the dressing room.

To note: this designer collab has a 14-day return window, which is probably to deter the eBay vultures from making a profit. Target kindly notes this on your receipt, with a note next to each Altuzarra item of the return deadline.

Also to note: Target's site has been p a i n f u l l y   s l o w today, so I would have LOVED to provide links to the items I bought but it wasn't possible as I couldn't access the pages.

I got the sweater with gold birds and the tee with python print. Also, I tried the black sheer dress (the short one). I liked it but I was looking for the maxi one, unfortunately, my local Target don't have it.

I told myself that I was only going to get the orchid maxi dress. Ugh. Why do I do this to myself?! I was awake late last night/early morning to see it go live. I went to items I wanted the most: orchid maxi dress, rubi draped dress, and the python tee. Done. Fast forward to 4 hours later, I'm at Target trying on the ankle boots. I've been reading a lot of mixed reviews about this collection. Overall, it's more sophisticated and one of my favorites.

Now I'm just hoping my dresses fit. Oy!

I completely forgot about it!
The jacket is a great piece good for you for finding something you can wear as a staple :)
I think I would get the belt if I were thinner, not really impressed with the rest of the collection

Didn't see anything from Altuzarra at my local target so I asked a salesperson just in case I had overlooked it. She looked at me as if I had two heads. Really target? Do you communicate with your employees at all? Rant over:)

Have you seen that it's already discounted? http://www.therecessionista.com/2014/09/discounts-altuzzara-target-target-com.html

Not everyone is buying this stuff. My local Target is full of the collab.

Thanks for the tip, Mary! But I think this deal only applies to dresses. I just checked out a couple of other Altuzarra items on Target's website, and the discount doesn't apply to them. And I happened to be shopping for sweater dresses on Target.com yesterday and noticed this discount, so I think Target is having some sort of "dress blowout". I would be irritated, though, had I bought one of the Altuzarra dresses only for it to go on sale a couple of days later.

There seems to be a good amount of inventory at my local stores, too, but only of certain items. Other popular items - like the LBD you liked and all the belts - have been sold out everywhere.

My target had a whole ton of stuff but it is in a highly concentrated urban area.

I tried on the blazer but it had this weird somewhat fluffy tail in the back. It is not visible in the pictures. It was well made though. The entire collection appeared to be well made. I just wish the tops were not polyester. Hate polyester.

I wanted to love this collection more than I ended up loving it. The color ways reminded me of Christmas (as did the velour). The tailoring was really nicely executed. I guess for my version will be the bar ware from the NM/Target collab. All the black garmets were nice. I wish there was a little less synthetic materials in every collab. I think Liberty of London and Rogan had the fewest synthetic materials. The jacquard and the peasant Swiss dot were the best pieces for me.

Finally made it to a Target that had the line (this line seemed to be at the least amount of Targets of any collab) and I was pretty impressed. Probably would have gotten the snakeskin skirt and short sleeve tee had the had my size. And I LOVED the black trench coat. Didnt really need another coat though so I passed. The sweater with the birds seemed really nice too.

Of all the things I ordered (or found in store) the only item I kept was the peplum blazer shown here. I wanted to love the wine-colored kimono wrap dress, but it didn't fit me right. Ditto on the peasant blouses; they seemed to swallow me up and didn't flatter me at all. And the bird sweater reminded me too much of the Adrienne Vittadini sweaters I owned in the '80s.

I went to three Target stores, and I have yet to see this collaboration. Any idea why not all the stores have it?

Amy: not sure why all stores aren't carrying it. And furthermore, Target usually publishes a list ahead of time stating which stores will - and won't - be carrying their collabs. I never saw such a list this time, and Racked.com reported that "Target PR tells us that most stores will have the collection, but there will be no confirmed list until the day of the launch, when you'll be able to locate stores with the collab through Target.com." However, I still can't find the list on their site - sorry!

When do you think it will go to 30% off?
