We're barely into the first few days of summer, yet
Target is trading it's regular merchandise for Back-to-School (BTS) supplies. Look for bargains in the Home Decor Dept. as Target clears that space for extra-long sheet sets, desk lamps, and other dorm essentials aimed at the college set. Boy they really are pushing it! I could swear last year they put this stuff out the second week of July!
All I can say is that I'm Gen-X and "Back to School" for me meant an underwear sale. I'm jealous this whole concept of hardcore dorm decorating came about after I had already wandered through undergrad housing with school-provided furniture, poorly constructed lofts, milk crates, and plywood over cinderblock. Our one "cool" thing was a double papasan from Pier One. It literally attracted people to lounge (sometimes uninvited) in our common room because it was so out of character to have something nicer than a fourth-hand, scarily stained couch from someone's older brother...
