First Look: Project 62

Of the new brands Target is rolling out, their new home decor line Project 62 is dubbed "modern pieces made for everyday living." Named after the year Target was born, the line offers a range of mid-century modern silhouettes. You can view preview pics here on Target.com, with items available for sale online on 9/16 and in stores on 9/19.

So far I like what I see, but it also makes me a bit fearful for the future of Target's popular Threshold and Nate Berkus lines. It seems like both lines have been dwindling in stores - perhaps in anticipation for making room for Project 62. Then again, Nate's Fall Collection doesn't usually hit stores until mid-September, so perhaps I'm jumping the gun a bit.

NB is being phased-out, except for some softlines (e.g.: bed and bath). Three additional home lines are forthcoming in the next 18 months. Threshold will remain for the foreseeable future, with more focus on wall and tabletop decor, less furniture pieces moving forward.

Oh no! Thanks for the insight, JCH. Do you work for Target? As a HUGE fan of the NB line at Target, I'm sad to hear this :-(

I really like NB, too; the numbers just weren't there, and "Home" is receiving a major push from corporate the next two years to compete with IKEA, C & B, CB2, etc. More new house "niche" brands are in the making. I don't work for Target; I'm a design and branding consultant in Target Country (aka downtown Minneapolis), so I'm in a lot of the same circles with Target Corp. If you liked NB, I think you'll like a lot of Project 62. Look for another home line for Spring 2018. I enjoy your blog immensely, and appreciate your fandom. Warmest regards to you!

Oh no. My house has so much Berkus-- NB works well with more expensive pieces. I always made out like a bandit at NB clearance! Will check out Project 62 sigh...
