While women have been lamenting the departure of
Merona, men seem to be mourning the loss of
Mossimo. In fact,
Reddit has several threads (like
this one) praising Mossimo's men's tees. So before Mossimo leaves the men's department forever, here's your chance to stock up.
Target has
a variety of men's Mossimo tees on sale for up to 65% off. in both regular and big & tall sizes. Plus, you can get an extra 20% off your purchase online with the code SAVE20 (offer expires Aug. 26th).

I'm starting to think that Target isn't changing anything, but the brand name. I went to Target yesterday and I happened to be wearing a Merona t-shirt (pink with flowers in gold foil printed on it) that I had bought years ago. As I was walking around in the clothing section, I saw the same exact shirt with flowers in gold foil printed on it. At first, I thought they were just getting rid of the old Merona stock, but when I looked at the tag it was their A New Day brand.
I really think there is no need to rush to grab the last of the Merona/Mossimo items before the change as the change won't be as different as Target wants us to believe.
Mecca: I initially thought the same thing, as it seemed I saw similar styles and fabrics showing up on A New Day. In particular, I just noticed a red floral A New Day (AND) blouse that is identical to a Merona blouse I have from 4 years ago. But then I inspected the fabrications closer, and realized the ones used in AND weren't as nice as Merona. Also, the sizing on AND is off; it runs at least one size smaller than Merona in most styles, and is more like Juniors sizing than Womens.
Wow! That's a very underhanded move if Target is using this new brand push just to make inferior clothing items. :( One of the main reasons that I love shopping at Target is because a lot of their clothes tends to hold up well after wearing/washing them multiple times. I've gone to the more expensive stores and have had things fall apart after wearing/washing it once.
Target is in a world of hurt, stocks and profits are down. Maybe they're trying to eek out a few pennies by lowering quality, decreasing the amount of fabric used for a given size and recycling old designs. From what I've seen of their new brands some of the clothing items appear to be approaching Wal-Mart quality.
