More Jason Wu on eBay than at Target

According to Elle.com, there's currently more of the Jason Wu for Target collection on eBay than at Target stores and Target.com. And frankly, I'm not surprised. Among the 10,000+ eBay items, there's this insanely priced ($500!) straw handbag. The seller quips “The designer made famous by Michelle Obama has now taken on a new challenge, the first designer collaboration with Target after the Missoni for Target fiasco.” And the average eBay price of the $55 trench coat that Blake Lively wore to the NY launch party a couple of weeks ago (shown here) is running about $200.

I am so tired of it! Target has to start increasing their orders or SOMETHING to combat it, right? Almost all of the stuff at my Target was sold out by 3 on the first day, I did get one dress :) Missoni is still both high and plentiful on ebay, but is coming down for some sellers.

So ridiculous! I hope no one buys any of it and the sellers are left with a lot of merchandise.

Grrrr....my Target sold out with in the first hour. So aggravating & unfair that a few people hoarded the whole collection. Target had limits for web orders, I don't know why they can't also have limits in stores.

As of yesterday, my Target (SE Florida) still had quite a bit of the clothing left, including 5+ of the trench coat you picture. Didn't see any accessories, however.

Playing devil's advocate (yes, I would have loved to had a few pieces myself), I admire the initiative and drive of people selling lines on ebay. We live in a tired economy and if there is a demand...well, heck yeah - I'd do it too if that was my thing.

In a nutshell why I will not spend a dime on any of it unless and until I see it in a clearance bin or Goodwill. Their website is an embarrassment. I sincerely wish that all those greedy bastards take a bath on the Jason Wu stuff they "invested in" and the cleaned out of Target on the first day. A plague on their houses.

Lots of stuff left in my Target in Brentwood, TN. Guess this part of the country didn't get the memo. :)

Gotta say I am not feeling this collection. Some of the accessories are cute, and I like the yellow top, but most of it looked kind of old ladyish. The scant few pieces left (sadly no handbags or scarves) in my store are all huge and I think the fabric is a little cheapy as well. If it said xhilaration on the label, nobody would give it a second glance. (my daughter and I just love the tv ad however!)

I don't see many bids, and I hope that continues and the items get returned to Target. Most are worth the Target prices.

Right on Amy! I agree with your comment, "most of it looked kind of old ladyish. The scant few pieces left (sadly no handbags or scarves) in my store are all huge and I think the fabric is a little cheapy as well. If it said xhilaration on the label, nobody would give it a second glance."

I long for the good old days when way fewer people paid attention to the collaborations. There was none of this putting stuff on eBay tackiness and the average person didn't recognize the designers. Call me a snob but it was so much more fun then! I also think a great number of people are just buying stuff because of the name solely and not because they actually like the product that much. The quality is often not good enough to warrant the price both in store and definitely on eBay and the fact that people will buy the stuff regardless seems to further demonstrate that. I realize how big of a deal it was that missoni did one but I don't like their trademark pattern so I didn't like their stuff very much therefore I didn't buy any of it. It's as simple as that for me. I guess their are rare people out there who are die hard fans of a particular brand and therefore will go crazy for it regardless of anything else..... I would be for a Marc Jacobs collab! When that day comes..... Every other one will be tame compared to the insanity that ensues.

I remember the very first collab. It was Luella and it is still my personal favorite! Still wear my heart stitch jeans. Erin fetherston, rodarte, and Alice temperly come close but I don't get excited much about them anymore. I however am a Target junkie and love so many of the mossimo supply co and xhiliration stuff! So while people fight over possibly wonky collab pieces they only might want because of the name I'll be over there freaking out about the bird print blouse and cute messenger bags that I swear were made just for me! Hahaha. : )
