Clearance Alert: Target + NM now marked down to 70% off

Attention shoppers!  If you've been hoping that the Target + Neiman-Marcus holiday collab would be reduced even further (from the 50%-off it was marked down to just before Christmas) then your wish has been granted. At my local Redwood City, CA store this morning, the entire collection was marked down to 70% off!  I can only assume that other stores are also reducing prices in order to clear this stuff out.

At that price, I broke down and got the Robert Rodriguez blouse (shown) for just $23.98. At my store, there were plenty of these still in stock, as well as the Lela Rose tops, the rag & bone sweaters, and the girl's Marchesa dresses.  Also in full supply were the Marc Jacobs Black scarf and Gold leather pouch, the Oscar de la Renta tote, the Carolina Herrera travel bags and stationery sets, the DVF jewelry boxes, the Altuzarra cocktail shakers and glass sets, and a ton of the Jason Wu ornaments.

Sadly, this sale doesn't seem to extend (at least not yet) to Target.com.     UPDATE: the sale now extends online to Target.com.  According to their website, Target also seems to be offering "free shipping" on all the items left in the NM collection.  But remember: regardless of the price, items from this collection have a return deadline of Jan. 5th for refunds.

Decided to order the MJ scarf and bag, the yoga mat, and luggage. Wanted to get the Robert R. dress, but based on the mixed reviews, might head to the store and try on first.

This stuff STIIL isnt moving at my local Target.
Since I dont think it can go lower than 70% off, I am keeping my fingers crossed that it shows up at my local Goodwill!!

FINALLY! These items are priced at what they should have been from the start. At 70% off the Alice & Olivia suitcase went from "absolutely not" to "must have" for me! And the bike now priced at $149 is actually a good deal.

Any idea what the return policy will be on any remaining items after Jan 5? Final sale? Or is that when the leftovers are off to Goodwill?

Sue and Jen: I'm not sure whether any "leftovers" will show up at Goodwill, but with Jan. 5th just the day after tomorrow, I doubt that Target will discount the line further than 70%.

And Jen: Target clearly states on their website + on signs in stores that "Items from the Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection must be returned by January 5th, 2013. Target will only accept collection items purchased at Target stores or Target.com.". Therefore, I assume that if you try to return something after Jan. 5th you'll be denied a refund.

Thanks! Maybe I should clarify my question... if I buy an item on Jan 6, for example, then would it be final sale? It's a mystery to me! That's why I wondered if the items would be removed from the stores after Jan 5.

At my Target I saw the stuff a few days ago still at 50% off and it seemed like they hadn't sold a single item and I doubt the 70% will do much more for it. It isn't the prices that are the problem, they just don't seem that great in person. I can't think where I'd wear any of it and the so called purses that are glittery look like glorified pencil cases to me. And the Best Friends hats just look like something Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street would wear. So tacky. I won't miss this stuff when it goes, though they were a step up from all the tacky floral patterned pants and hideous shades of orange the rest of their clothes seem to be sporting these days. It's getting tougher and tougher to find decent stuff in their clothing dept. Such a shame!!

Jen: my assumption (and please keep in mind that I could be wrong!) is that any "leftovers" from the collection will be removed from stores and Target.com after Jan. 5th. If you happen to come across an item from the NM collection after Jan. 5th, they MIGHT sell it to you, in which case it'd be a final sale. OR, they could refuse to sell it to you, as has happened to me before. I once came across a Liberty of London dress that had been returned to the store after the collection had already left stores. And when I tried to buy it, they said they were sorry, but since the collection was no longer in their system they could not sell it to me (even as a "final sale" item). They took the dress and I have no idea if it was destroyed or sent to Goodwill or what happened to it.

UPDATE: while at Target today, I overheard a sr. Target employee (probably from the Corporate office) talking to the store manager about what to do with the "leftovers". The manager was asked whether all remaining inventory from the collab was already out on the store floor, and she confirmed it was. The sr. employee informed the manager that on Jan. 6th, all the leftovers will be picked up by a "special salvage truck" - not the usual one. I have no idea what this means, except that it does indeed seem as if the collection will "disappear" from stores after tomorrow.

Hope it is going to Goodwill but I have a feeling that we wont see it there....

Broke down and bought the Rag and Bone sweater. There was a lot of merchandise left.

I also doubt this stuff is going to Goodwill. My guess is that they will destroy it.

I managed to get a couple additional pieces at 70% off - namely, the Thom Browne jacket (yes, I actually already own and wear odd little 3/4 sleeve blazers) and a Judith Leiber compact. I also adjusted prices on a couple Christmas presents previously bought down to either 50 or 70% off. In the end, I got stuck for the gloves and wrapping paper at full price.

Truthfully, the quality was nice on many items, but the initial price point should have been at least 25% lower, if not 50%. I think people were turned off in a way they may not have been had the original prices been more reasonable. ALSO - so many of the items were FRIVOLOUS in nature. None of it was really a "need" or even remotely useful in some cases. A DVF wrap dress would have been miles more desirable than a yoga mat.

I noticed in both Indiana and California that certain items definitely moved once on sale. I never saw those gloves again within about 2 days of their getting to 50% off. The compacts, plates, and Marchesa ivory dress have been elusive as well.

What I see left are the JW ornaments, ODLR dog accessories (and lots of totes depending on store), DVF jewelry boxes, PS iPad sleeve, MJ pouch/clutch, BO cookie cutters, much of that heavy picture frame/trinket box randomness, a few skateboards, and a decent chunk of clothing (fit must be an issue with some of it).

But certain specific items from the collection have definitely moved, and they're the ones that you can use in everyday life - which is what Target should be about, duh. Oh, and how poorly can you merchandise a section of the store? That definitely didn't help...

My mom and I are so excited. We both just discovered that everything was 70% off including the adorable Alice & Olivia bike. We are going to order it online! How could you not, a crazy adorable bike for only $150.
