Is Calypso St. Barth struggling to sell?

On my last couple of trips to Target (at 2 different locations - one near my home, the other near my work) I noticed something interesting. The Calypso St. Barth collection didn't seem to be moving. Sure, a few choice items (like the silver pouf) have sold out both in stores and online, but some items that at first flew off the shelves (like the elephant teapot and some of the tote bags) have been restocked. In fact, as racks start to thin out, it looks like Target replenishes them regularly with additional inventory. Which got me thinking: is the Calypso line not selling as well as Target had planned? It seemed like the Liberty of London line last year at this time sold out like hotcakes - especially the housewares. Calypso's housewares, on the other hand - especially the plastic tumblers, printed plates, and scented candles - seem in full supply two weeks after launch. And don't even get me started on the sleepwear & intimates; they haven't budged at all. Perhaps Target overestimated the public's zeal for island-inspired goods?

The target near my house still has all of its ottomans!

I tried on one of the tops, and like most Target things, the fit was not great. The colors are pretty, but I'm just not into the island thing myself. Liberty was so amazing, and you could wear the stuff year round.

I like the dresses, but I'm just not feeling I'll get it's money's worth ($40-ish) out of it yet.

I think the price point for these items tends to be higher than Liberty- I went to Target this weekend and was surprised at the prices.

I love the colors of the short cotton robe in the intimates, but I wish they'd done a shirt in the fabric rather than a robe. I'm just too cheap to pay $30 for something like that. As for the housewares, I missed almost all of it and haven't seen any restocked in Atlanta.

the price point is a little too high for most people. I dont have any extra money to go towards a prettier item if the same basic thing I need is cheaper and not part of that line. Last year though I did go out of my way to work a few liberty of london items in my budget. I wont be able to do that this year because of expecting another baby..I am sure many people have different reasons for not splurging. Yes! $30 is spluring for most people. That is like 2 hours of work for me or a half a tank of gas or a perscription refill.

I bought some Calypso earrings at Target, but I won't even try on the clothes or sleepwear because of the price. It's too much for Target girls like me, who are looking for cheaper prices on trendy items. I only invest money in classics!

Curious. I haven't been to my Target this week, but I'm in a college town and I'm sure the prices are too high (plus the students have left). I'm waiting for the white embroidered dress to get marked down. I thought the quality was nicer than usual on most items, but not nice enough to be that more expensive.

The dress reissue lingered at my Target.

I just bought a Calypso dress. I think this particular dress is a bit high for the quality and type of dress- tres casual. The Liberty was huge and quick to sell out, but higher quality I think...

not sure where you all are but here in the northeast it has been rainy and COLD- say sweaters. maybe in a few weeks when it is above 70F, people might develop enthusiasm for summer clothing...Also there is the insane flooding in the Mississippi areas where people are just trying not to drown, so, ergo not shopping at Target.

I was wondering this very same thing--stopped in my local store and there was LOTS of it still sitting on the racks. I think Target is doing too many of these now, and maybe customers just aren't getting excited any more.

The prints are pretty, but they are better made and better fitting closes elsewhere for the price!
