I know for sure I will not be shopping any time on Thanksgiving. It will be spent relaxing and cooking with my family. My husband is in retail management and the company he currently works for is open on Thanksgiving, i don't know if is is new to them or not, because this is his first turkey day with them. I really hate it, he won't get to celebrate and spend time with his kids while they are home from school. Rachael was right, he already gives up all but 1 weekend a month and he has to close 3 nights a week. Retail companies need to wise up and realize that no one wants to work like that! Good help will be very hard to get if they don't change their ways! It seems like more and more...It makes me sad, too. It seems like more and more stores are doing this. In a few years, probably all stores will be open on Thanksgiving in order to compete. People who work in retail already give up all of their weekends and work late into the night throughout the holiday season. (Especially at Macy's, who often stays open an hour later than the mall.)
