The history of the Bullseye logo...

A Bullseye View has posted a fun little rundown of the history behind Target's telltale logo, which you can view here. The Bullseye was first revealed in 1962, streamlined in 1968, and has since evolved into one of the most recognized symbols in North America.

Shown here is the “Flair for Fashion” advertisement, one of many ads from the “Shop at Target” grand opening campaign circa 1969; I think it looks very current-season "Mad Men", don't you?

No earth day news this year?

I, too, was sad about not having a Target Earth Day bag this year.

Good point, JanuarySix! I did a little research online and confirmed that Target did not give away free bags this year. No reason was given, but some comments I saw on various message boards speculated it could be because Target's profits are down (due to last December's security breach) or due to the fact that they had received complaints that the bags last year were so small. Someone else pointed out that they usually give away bags on the Sunday before Earth Day, and this year that date would have fallen on Easter.
