A tip on returning items from the NM collection...

Happy weekend, readers!  Just wanted to share with you a little hint I discovered by accident while at Target today. Some of you may have been influenced (as I was) to BUY MORE once the Target + NM collab went on clearance for 70% off.  I made an online order last week for this Philip Crangi frame (shown) and the Carolina Herrera Travel bag set (which I'm gifting to my mom).  Obviously the bag set I'm keeping (as it's a gift) but I changed my mind about the frame and tried to return it today.  Note: the packing slip stated that this item had to be returned by 1/5/13, which would have been impossible as I placed my order on 1/4 and only just got it yesterday.  So I left the packing slip at home and tried to return it via my Target RedCard, which was my method of payment.  When the CSR looked it up, he informed me that I was past the return date... however, he could ring it up as a "non-receipt" (meaning I didn't have either the receipt or the card I paid for it with) but that I'd only get the current price (which was fine, as that's what I had paid for it).  That way you can get your money back via a Target gift card.  Just a little hint for those of you suffering "buyer's remorse" as I was today!

They let you return anything without a receipt but only up to a max value of I think $70 per year. It's tied to your ID. I did this last year when I got Shake Weights as a gag gift for Christmas :P

I was told that you could only do that twice a year.

It is pretty lame that Target didn’t update their computers to accommodate the new return date.

I had some weird return moments with this collection. First of all, I had to do all my "price adjustments" by buying the same thing again at the lower price and returning with the original full/higher price receipt. I also had to juggle this between two states as well since it was over the holidays. I used PayPal for online purchases and had to settle for a gift card when I did one return (which is apparently the policy). But the next two returns on PayPal purchases were cash back! One Target employee even indicated he was shocked that the system let him do that. He literally said something like "Do you buy a lot from Target? You must be a loyal customer" - or whatever. Yeesh. Yeah, dude, I'm a sucker.

Anyhoo, I was paranoid about the return dates, but it all worked out for the most part. I even managed to grab two JL compacts for $17 - both were lucky spotting of return items on my part. I totally got the CH bags for my mom too.

And I made $4.37 dent in the gift card with a nice supply of Christmas leftovers that were 90% off. The packs of tissue paper were a steal to me since they can be used year-round.

Thanks, Bev and Tina, for weighing in on the "rules" around returning things without a receipt. I did not know this! Interestingly enough, they did not ask for my ID, though - ?

This happened to me today and the clerk called target. Com and was told to do each item separately with a special approval code for each item. I got a credit to my redcard , but it did take a while . The clerk was courteous and really patient, and she was actually annoyed that target is doing this , she asked if this is to continue this way and they said yes .
