The Look for Less: Pottery Barn vs. Threshold

Kudos to reader "Cotton Candy" for tipping me off to this one! She loved the look of this round, woven jute placemat from Pottery Barn (shown at left) but at $56 for a set of 4, she thought she could do better. So instead, she opted for the Threshold version on the right (at Target) which costs just $5.99 each.

Coming Soon to Target: Honest Beauty

Over a year ago I posted my review of select Honest Beauty products (currently available only online) and mused if/when the line would ever be available at Target or on Target.com. Well, the wait is over, because starting March 26th, Honest Beauty is coming to Tar-jay! With 30+ products covering everything from skincare to makeup, the line is created with safe, botanically driven ingredients. And it’s aligned with Target's focus on offering guests better-for-you products free of unwanted chemicals.

“We started carrying The Honest Company a few years ago and it’s been a hit with our guests. In fact, we’ve more than doubled our assortment to meet the growing demand,” said Mark Tritton, chief merchandising officer at Target. “Given their love for the brand and better-for-you products, it was only natural for us to expand our offerings to include Honest Beauty. We think guests will really love the collection and the added convenience of finding Honest Beauty at Target.”

Fab Find: Dollar Aisle DIY Kit

How cute is this?? Yesterday in the Dollar Aisle at Target I spied this charming DIY Pom-pom Kit to make an adorable baby chick. They also have one to make a fluffy bunny. Both of these kits are just $3 each, and would make a fun craft project for little hands at kids' birthday party or Easter Egg hunt.

Double-Take: Steve Madden vs. Mossimo

It's time for another double-take, where we take one item from Tar-shay and match it up against a lookalike - yet pricier - designer piece. And thanks to reader "Mag" who sent me this tip! These colorful slides are almost identical, with bright-beaded straps and a nude toe ring. But one of them is by Steve Madden (at Nordstrom) and will set you back $79.95, whereas the other is by Mossimo (at Target) and costs just $27.99. Which is which? The answer appears in the comments section below.

Just In: The Victoria Beckham for Target Lookbook

A Bullseye View has just posted the lookbook for the upcoming Victoria Beckham for Target collab, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. The baby, toddler and girls clothing is cute enough, but the womens wear is a mixed bag. Divided into 5 style collections - Circus Scallops, English Lace, Clever Bunny, Pressed English Flowers and and Pop Floral - this collab is heavy on gingham, paisley, mod prints, florals, and basic black & white with pops of bold colors.

It's hard to say how sizing will run, because of course on the models everything looks perfect. The pants look cut long and lean, which means they won't be a match for me. And the looser-fitting shift dresses look rather short, so it'll be interesting to see how they'll translate to real-life bodies. On the positive side, for the first time in Target collab history, plus sizes will be offered in select stores (and not just online).

What do you think, readers? After looking at the pics, are you excited for this collab? And if so, what will you be buying?

Modern by Dwell doesn't sell that well...

Back in January I shared my opinion that I wasn't all that impressed with the new Modern by Dwell Magazine collab at Target. And I don't think I'm in the minority, as the bulk of the current collection is now on clearance in stores (as shown here in the pic I snapped  - if you look hard you can see all the little red clearance stickers!). Oddly enough, the collection isn't marked down online, so head to stores for the best price.

Fab Find: Dollar Aisle Ribbon Trim

More prettiness from the Dollar Aisle at Target: fun ribbons like silver cording and fringe trim to add a special touch to packaging and presents. Available in a variety of colors and styles, at just $1 each.

Fab Find: Dollar Aisle Glitter

Looking to add a little glitter to your life? Then look no further than the Dollar Aisle at Target. For just a buck each, you can get pack of glitter (as shown) as well as sequins in a variety of colors. These would be perfect for arts & craft projects, or as party decorations.

Who What Wear sells out of some pieces...

Several weeks ago I blogged about my newfound fondness for the Who What Wear line at Target. And I guess I'm not the only one digging this collection, as several key pieces in the Spring line now seem to be sold out.

Case in point: I had my eye on this lightweight denim midi dress a couple of weeks ago, but by the time I went back yesterday to buy it online (it's not available in stores) it was already sold out. Likewise, I know that these on-trend frayed jeans used to be offered in denim blue, but now they're only available in black. So lesson learned: if you like it, buy it, as you never know how long it'll be around!

Victoria Beckham X Target on cover of InStyle...

The upcoming Victoria Beckham for Target collab is featured on the subscribers-only cover of InStyle magazine’s April issue. As shown here, Victoria looks to be wearing the same (or very similar) white shirt that A Bullseye View previewed last October. And inside the April issue, she appears alongside four mini fashionistas, each one donning pieces from the collection with motifs like gingham and bunnies. As a reminder, the Victoria Beckham for Target collab hits stores and Target.com on April 9th.

New at Target: Suja Drinking Vinegar

Most folks have already hopped on the “sip-your-way-to-better-gut-health” trend by adding probiotic water, yogurt or kombucha to their daily diet. But the latest en-vogue trend—drinking vinegars—is just hitting the scene, and now Target is jumping on the bandwagon with the introduction of Suja Drinking Vinegars.

So why drink vinegar? Jeff Church, CEO & Co-Founder of Suja, explains: "Raw apple cider vinegar has actually been used for healing since about 400 B.C., but it’s really having a moment now—the latest trend is to drink it for a serious nutritional gut-health punch.”

And how does it taste? Well… like vinegar. [More on that in a sec]. But not to worry: Suja’s Organic Drinking Vinegars have all the benefits of vinegar, plus a good dose of probiotics and fruity flavor (thanks to cold-pressed juices). While you’d typically find these drinking vinegars at a co-op or health food store, Target’s the first mass retailer to bring the trend to the masses in a big way by carrying it in all their stores across the country.

Target is now carrying 4 flavors of Suja's low-sugar, low-calorie and probiotic-packed drinks, two of which are store exclusives. Here are the descriptions provided by A Bullseye View, plus my review of one of them:

Blueberry Lemon Drinking Vinegar (available only at Target) with hints of coconut nectar, a squeeze of citrus and a touch of cinnamon, is like blueberry cobbler in a bottle.

Grapefruit Jalapeno Drinking Vinegar (available only at Target) has a tangy citrus taste and bright color while ginger and jalapeƱo add a bold kick.

Strawberry Balsamic Drinking Vinegar combines apple cider vinegar and vegan probiotics with sweet strawberries, tangy balsamic and a squeeze of fresh lime to deliver the perfect balance of sweet and sour.

Peach Ginger Drinking Vinegar
combines apple cider vinegar with vegan probiotics for added gut health and subtly sweet southern peach, a hint of ginger and the tropical sweetness of coconut nectar to round out the light and bright flavor. This is the one I tried, and it was actually the only flavor left on the shelf at my local store. While yes, it definitely tastes like a form of vinegar, I was pleasantly surprised at the lightness and sweetness of it. As a "health drink", I didn't mind the taste at all, and it's certainly a LOT better than any of the varieties of kombucha I've tried. I don't know if I could drink a whole one (13.5 oz) in one sitting, but that's OK as the label says you can keep and refrigerate it up to 5 days after opening.
